Killing me softly...

I am a big high heels lover. It's unthinkable to me going out at night in less than 5-centimetres-heels. That's why I am astonished at how bad they are for the back, a mortal cocktail together with my love for huge bags! In Spain we have a proverb which says something like "if you want to look cool, you have to suffer", and I guess it's absolutely real. -Thanks God I walk to the Uni on flats, because if not, the damage would be irreversible.
In the lower extremeties we have 28 bones, 7.000 nerve endings and 57 articulations, and when we walk in high heels, we force its natural posture, causing with that severe long-term damage in our knees and back. Doctors recommend walking on the sand on barefoot to reduce the terrible effects of the heels on our body.

I cannot avoid having high heels. It's so empowering. It feels like your body is more stylized, your legs are longer, your hips are smaller, you feel more self-confident... and so many things you already now. It was Louis XIV of France the one who is said to have invented the heels, basically to try to hide his short height.
Here a collage with some of my favourite shoes... What can I say? I recommend you not to use heels, but the question is, are you be able to?

I love heels too, but I just use them to go out, or special days, when I need to look pretty. In any case, I don´t like to walk around with them a lot...so a lot of times I have a par of balerinas to change... :-) is that cheating? :-P

achh, pain is beauty!

but it is a pain! ha.

Heels I can live with, but it's my heavy bag I drag around all day that really hurts my back.

Have you ever seen the feet of some older women who have worn heels for years? The base is all curved into the shape of a heeled shoe! I think Carine's feet are like this too! Kind of crazy.

As much I love high heels I can not walk in them at all. The pain is just too excruciating, I'm amazed people are able to wear them daily!

I think this high heels being bad for you is made up by men
who are jealous their shoes are so boring!

I love the aesthetic of high heels, but luckily, I am 5'10" and can't really wear them... I tower. Even though you ladies will be hurting your back and feet, I am jealous...

I love the look of heels but the only times I have left the house in them were for formals, I just can't walk properly in them! I need to practice...

I'm the opposite, I never learned to walk properly in heels and I always uncomfortable in them, but I really wish I could because the right high heels just look so good.

Mr Style: We have that expression in Spanish too, as I wrote in the post.
In Yr Fshn: you are so lucky! I wish I was taller! especially for the basketball team:(!

Everything in moderation, I guess. (as someone said before) If you don't always wear them there is less likelihood of damage.

For the sake of my poor feet, I try to balance a day of wearing heels with at least a few days of wearing comfortable flats. And I also second the suggestion of bringing along a pair of flats to change if you will be wearing heels for a long period of time.

Do you know that some fitness places are now offering classes in high-heel fitness? They teach leg exercises that are supposed to help people walk in heels. Of course, I don't know how effective these classes really are...
