You may think it's a coincidence...

When I was a child, I used to play with Barbies. They were my favourite dolls. Tall, beautiful, thin, they look like models, and they had so many outfits. That was the best part of it. I spent hours and hours changing their clothes all the time. A while ago I went with my parents to have dinner with friends of them. They had a little girl, about six years old, and she was playing with some not-so-cute doll. I asked her which doll was that, and she answered pretty offended: "This is a Bratz, you don't have it?". I told her I used to play with Barbies when I was her aged, and she was disappointed. Why little girls have changed their liking? Some days ago I find some coincidences. Models' physiognomy has changed. Now it's all about big eyes, just like Bratzs...

Barbie's manufacturer and Bratz' manufacturer are in court now, fighting over whose idea it was first, to have a 'hot' doll. Barbie wins chronologically, because she's been around for decades, and Bratz are relatively new. But Mattel may have a big battle on it's hands trying to defend their right to intellectual property.

I will always love Barbie, even though she was incredibly disproportionate!

I had so many Barbies that after a while of keeping them in perfect condition, I got bored and gave them most of them choppy mullets and buzzcuts. Many of them also lost their heads :S

I read on someone's blog that a little girl was going through a street with prostitutes on it on a vacation (maybe Amsterdam??) and said that the women looked like Bratz dolls! LOL!

I think the look of models today is more alien-babyish, gemma ward, even actresses like the olsens have these huge eyes. I think masha is striking though.

I think the eyes and lip denote more personality too--they look sort of "bratty" but lively were Barbies look vacant. Not that women used to be vacant, but that the ideal was for a quieter type of woman--now little girls idolize obnoxious, powerful women/girls and the "standard" for behavior is changing...
