Didier Ludot

If you like vintage, you must go to Didier Ludot if you ever are in Paris. It's the best vintage shop in Paris and there is no doubt about it. They have vintage Haute Couture, as seen in the second picture -if you are able to see through the grille-. They have Manolos in good condition, despite I think it's insane -and I know a lot of people are going to hate me for this- buying vintage shoes because shoes are adapted to each foot and it's not good wearing shoes which have been worn before. They have bags by Hermès and tweed Chanel suits. The shop is small, chic and worth it, it's the ultimate vintage paradise in Paris.

Si te gusta la ropa vintage, debes ir a la tienda de Didier Ludot en Paris. Es la mejor tienda vintage y no hay ninguna duda sobre ello. Tienen Haute Couture vintage, como podeis ver en la segunda foto -si soy capaces de ver a traves de la reja-. Tienen Manolos en un excelente estado -no todos, pero si la mayoria- aunque yo creo que comprar zapatos vintage no es nada bueno -sé que muchas me vais a odiar por esto- ya que los zapatos se adaptan al pie de uno y cuando usas los de otra persona ya tienen la forma del pie de esa otra persona. También tienen bolsos de Hermès y trajes de tweed de Chanel, entre otras muchas joyas. La tienda es pequena, chic y merece la pena ya que es el ultimo paraiso del vintage en Paris.

Pompidou Centre

The Pompidou Centre was the maximum exponent in the Sixties vanguards and still is a great place to see some of the best contemporary art in Paris. They open at 11 a.m. and the queue is quite long, but less than half hour, so it's ok. It's closed on Tuesdays. You can take pictures of everything you see, but without flash. I am still furious about the Valentino exhibition and the fact that they didn't allow taking pictures!

El centro Pompidou fue el epicentro de las vanguardias de los anos sesenta, y aun es uno de los mejores lugares para ver arte moderno en Paris. Abre a las once de la manana y la cola no es demasiado larga, pero al contrario que el resto de los museos, cierra los martes y no los lunes. Puedes hacer fotos a todo lo que ves, pero sin flash. Aun estoy cabreada cada vez que pienso que en la exposicion de Valentino supuestamente no se podian hacer fotos.

If you ever come to Paris, please, make me a favour, go to the Rodin museum. I really think it's one of the most beautiful places I've seen in Paris. The sculptures were amazing, and the gardens are incredibly, as you can see in the picture.

Si alguna vez venis a Paris, por favor, hacedme un favor, y visitad el museo de Rodin. Realmente creo que es uno de los lugares mas bonitos de Paris. Las esculturas son increibles, y los jardines son perfectos para los dias de calor horrible como el de hoy.

The most chic girl I've seen till today in Paris. She is wearing a Chanel jacket, Birkin bag and shorts. I couldn't do a better picture, but I think you can appreciate the essence of her outfit.

La chica mas chic que he visto en Paris hasta la fecha. Llevaba una chaqueta de tweed de Chanel y un Birkin y esos shorts que le dan un aire tan informal. No pude sacar una foto mejor, pero supongo que para captar la esencia del modelo es suficiente.

In the entrails of Paris Vogue

Today I was idle enough to go and visit the building of Paris Vogue -Faubourg St. Honoré St.-. In the picture it's all I could see! I wasn't lucky enough to see some Vogue "soldier" in there.

Anyway, the august issue is finally here, and I was more than delighted when I saw the cover was red, just as the last bag I bought. Perfect.

The problem is the cover looks like a September issue, and inside the editorials are a bit disappointing... Only the Emmanuelle Alt is worth it, so here you are. I have asummed the capris + stilettos combo as one of the greatest looks for next autumn.

Hoy estuve lo suficientemente ociosa como para visitar el edificio de Vogue Paris con la esperanza de ver a alguna fashionista por alli, pero no hubo suerte, y lo unico de Vogue que vi fue la entrada -en la primera foto-. Por otro lado, el numero de Vogue Paris de agosto por fin esta en los quioscos, y fue una grata sorpresa ver tanto rojo en la portada, -sobretodo teniendo en cuenta que el ultimo bolso que compre es rojo-.

El problema es que la portada parece de un numero de Septiembre y no de agosto, ademas de que Daria no sale del todo guapa en el editorial de dentro, lo cual es casi imposible. Sinceramente, el unico editorial que merece la pena es el de la gran Emmanuelle Alt, y aqui lo teneis. El combo de capris+stilettos se consolida como una de las grandes tendencias del invierno.

Vests are becoming a huge trend in Paris. They are very versatile and are valid for summer and also fall days. The best option is buying one in cashmere, soft and warm, it looks always good. GAP has nice vests starting at forty euros -they are not on sale-.

Lunch at Ladurée, Paris

Do you know the macarons? I am sure you do. Last weekend allure and I had lunch at Ladurée. The most famous boulangerie in Paris, of course they make the most famous macarons in town. I am sure this one was the très chic sandwich -and also the most expensive one- I've had in my whole life. They also have a shop at Harrods (London). Normally I am not a big fan of vegetables, but this vegetables sandwich was sooooo good! I strongly recommend you visit this lovely place.

Conoceis los macarons? Supongo que si. El fin de semana pasado allure y yo almorzamos en Ladurée. La boulangerie mas famosa de Paris, y por supuesto, la que tambien hace los macarons mas famosos de toda la ciudad. Estoy segura que este sandwich fue el mas chic que he comido jamas -tambien el mas caro-. Tambien tienen una tienda en Harrods (London) por si a alguien le interesa. Normalmente no soy una gran fan de las verduras, pero este sandwich vegetal estaba muy rico. Realmente os recomiendo visitar el sitio si pasais por Paris.

Tired of Longchamp

There is an epidemic in Paris, and it is called Longchamp cheap bag. It is terrible, everybody is wearing it, no matter what. I am so sick of it, I just need to say it. I took this picture with a lot of movement because I didn't want anyone to get offended, and it's quite easy watching the boring bag in the centre of the picture.

Hay una epidemia en Paris, y se llama los bolsos baratos de Longchamp. Es terrible, todo el mundo lleva uno, no importa la edad, raza o religion. Estoy tan harta de esos bolsos que lo tenia que poner aqui, es realmente desesperante. Hice la foto con tanto movimiento para que nadie pudiera ser reconocido, por si acaso, pero bueno, el bolso barato de Longchamp se ve bien, no?

Avedon

I've been in the Richard Avedon exhibition in Paris and it was great. He is such a talented photographer! The pictures where divided by years, and I think it was a nice idea, because topics were related and it made it even more interesting. Despite fashion was not the main topic, his pictures are so good than you enjoy any subject by him. Obviously you couldn't take pictures, but I've looked for some of the best in google so you can see them anyway. I am sure you'll enjoy.

He estado en la exposicion de Richard Avedon y ha sido maravilloso. Tiene tanto talento que es casi indescriptible. La exposicion estaba organizada por epocas, una gran idea ya que asi se puede disfrutar mas los temas que estan relacionados entre si. Aunque la moda no fuese el eje fundamental de la exposicion -establishment americano, mineros y beautiful people- la disfrute casi tanto o mas que si lo hubiera sido.

Obviamente no estaba permitido hacer fotos y esta vez no fui capaz de escaparme de la ley, asi que he buscado algunas en google para que veais una pequena muestra. Estoy segura que disfrutareis.

Sex and the City tour

Do you remember those balconies? If you have seen the last season of Sex and the City, you must remember it, in one of those Carrie sees the Eiffel Tower for first time. Here it was where Mr. Big finds her in the hall asking for another room after breaking up with the Russian. Down is the first Monsieur Dior's boutique ever, Carrie falls down because it was raining and so she buys a lot of things just to be less ashamed.

Recordais estos balcones? Si habeis visto Sexo en NY estoy segura que si. En uno de ellos es donde Carrie ve la torre Eiffel por primera vez. Tambien en este hotel es donde Mr. Big la encuentra en el recibidor preguntando por otra habitacion tras su ruptura con el ruso. Abajo estan las fotos de la primera boutique de Monsieur Dior, en la Avenue Montaigne. En esa boutique es donde Carrie entra y se cae -gracias a su paraguas mojado- y luego compra demasiadas cosas para estar menos avergonzada.

Do you remember that quote? I guess you do. One thousand palpitations in just one minute. I did it. My very first pair of Manolos. Simple and timeless. Always black. I finally have found the love in Paris.

Valentino at Les Arts Decoratifs

The Valentino exhibition at Les Arts Decoratifs -Paris- was amazing. I don't think I need to say anything about him, we all now his work. The thing about Couture I guess is that a dress he designed in 1968 is still elegant today. In fact, I think that is the magic of fashion.

The exhibition was amazing because of the dresses; and not because of the organization. Light was so poor you could barely see the dresses, and the worst was the sand on the floor, I guess thanks to it dresses will be ruined, and it's so sad.

La exposicion de Valentino en Les Arts Decoratifs -Paris- es recomendable para todo aquel que este interesado en moda, aunque solo sea un poquito. No necesito decir nada de Valentino porque todos lo conocemos de sobra. Supongo que el encanto de la Costura es que un vestido que Valentino diseno en 1968 es aun elegante hoy. Y en realidad, creo que esa es la magia de la moda. Debo decir que la exposicion estuvo bien porque los vestidos eran maravillosos y con eso bastaba. Sin embargo, el diseno de la exposicion daba pena, la luz era escasa y algunos vestidos apenas los podias ver, y ademas, en el suelo habia arena, que seguramente estropeara muchos de los vestidos largos, lo que me rompio el corazon ya que no se puede hacer nada.

Chanel at Rue Cambon

Today I've been near paradise. When I was at rue Cambon I was imagined how Coco walked the street, from the Ritz to Chanel, probably less than a houndred metres, so elegantly. This street is pure luxury. Pictures talked by itself, and I just want you to enjoy them, the feeling is marvellous. I think Chanel owns almost the whole street...

Hoy he estado cerca del paraiso. Cuando fuimos a la Rue Cambon no pude dejar de imaginar a la gran Coco Chanel caminando desde su suite del Ritz hasta sus oficinas de Chanel, que estan a menos de cien metros yo creo -asi a simple vista- de un modo elegante, acorde con su gran estilo. La calle en si es puro lujo, parece que tienes que pagar solo por mirarla. Las fotos hablan por si mismas, y espero que las disfruteis, el sentimiento es maravilloso. Parece que la calle es casi entera de Chanel...

Colette

Just a word: dissappointing. This is funny because I will stay a month in Paris but I am not going to come inside Colette. Obviously not because I don't want, but because they are closed. They will be almost two months closed. It is so annoying. What can I say? They have the right to close whenever they want, but I think is a total lack of respect for the tourists and visitors who want to see this innovative shop. -It is kind of ironic but they are innovative even in the way they close, because I don't think any shop on Earth has closed during almost two months before-.

No me puedo creer que vaya a estar un mes en Paris y no vaya a ver Colette, pero la vida es dura y estas cosas siempre me pasan a mi... Hace un par de dias fuimos hasta Colette y ya veis lo aue nos encontramos; la tienda estara cerrada hasta el 25 de agosto. Se ve que las rebajas ni los turistas son lo suyo; y yo creo sinceramente que es una falta de respeto cerrar durante casi dos meses, pero bueno; cada uno hace con su tienda lo que quiere. Recordad, si venis a Paris antes del 25 de agosto; no os molesteis.

Best shops in town - III

I cannot believe how long it took me to be able to show you this. Youtube was against me and I want to apologize for that. Goga is a nice, innovative and trendsetter shop. The only thing you need to look at it's the sophisticated style of her owners, Goga and Marina, and you'll realise how stylish the shop is. They have always a smile and are happy to help, which is not so normal nowadays when shopping at boutiques. I was lucky enough to spend a whole morning in the shop and both of them are adorable. Shoppers are normally stylish too, -they have loyal customers- and if you come inside, you can understand why. The Matisse quote on the wall make clear Goga is not only a shop, but also a lifestyle. Clothing become another form of art in is this small shop. As they said in the video, they love the Belgian fashion school and they are constantly looking for new talented designers. If you go to Santiago, make sure you don't miss this shop, or you'll regret it!

Lo primero, quiero pedir disculpas por el retraso de este post, pero youtube se puso en mi contra, y no me ha dejado subir el video hasta hoy. Goga es una tienda muy bonita, innovadora y que es capaz de marcar el paso en lo que a tendencias se refiere, a pesar de que "huyen" de eso. Solo hace falta entrar y observar el estilo tan sofisticado de las duenas, Goga y Marina -madre e hija- para darse cuenta de todas las prendas valiosas que hay en el interior. Siempre tienen una sonrisa en la cara y se muestran atentas y dispuestas a ayudar en todo momento. Tuve la suerte de compartir con ellas una manana entera y solo puedo decir que vi pocas dependientas tan amables como ellas. Las clientas -en su mayoria- son muy estilosas, ademas de fieles a esta boutique, por razones obvias. La cita de Henri Matisse en una de las paredes solo presagia la mezcla perfecta que se da entre arte y moda en el interior. No hace falta estar mucho tiempo dentro para ver que mas que una tienda, Goga es una forma de vida. Como dicen en el video, su escuela de moda preferida es la belga, y estan constantemente a la caza de nuevos talentos. Si vas a Santiago, pasate por alli, o estoy segura de que te arrepentiras.

Where are the 'chic'?

Paris has been quite dissapointed today. The only respectful thing was Birkin. We saw one and it was soo cool. However, I guess all the chic Parisian are on holiday, because today was really a mess. Rainy, so annoying, I was trying to convince and prepare myself for asking cool girls to pose for my blog, you may think is not true, but I haven't seen any. Just dissappointed. Despite that, today was only the first day and I will be patient. We visited Le Champs Elysees, I will try to upload pics tomorrow.

Paris ha sido decepcionante, por lo menos hoy. La unica cosa respetable que vi fue un Birkin en la mano de una buena senora, que iba super-simple, y vamos -para que queria mas-. Realmente creo que todas las chicas chic de Paris estan de vacaciones porque yo no he visto ninguna, y eso que hoy hemos visitado los Campos Eliseos... mucho turista, supongo. Estuve intentando convencerme a mi misma para preguntarles si podia hacerles fotos -a las tres chic- pero no vi a ninguna. Que decepcion. Manana intentare subir fotos.

Tomorrow I am going to Paris for a French language and culture course, one month in Paris!! I'll try to post as soon as possible, to show you some pics from there and some Parisian-fashion. I hope you all enjoy your holidays too.

There is another video from the best shops in town series, but I am having problems with youtube, and I cannot uploaded it! So annoying, I'll try to do it also there.

Mañana me voy a París a hacer un curso de lengua y cultura francesa durante un mes. Intentaré postear tan pronto como me sea posible, sobretodo para poner fotitos del chic-Parisino. Espero que vosotros disfrutéis vuestras vacaciones también.

Aún me queda por poner un vídeo de las series de Best Shops in Town pero estoy teniendo muchos problemas con youtube, llevo toda la semana intentando subir un vídeo y no me deja. Intentaré actualizarlo desde allí también.

Not only a Spanish designer

José Castro

José Castro is a Spanish designer whose talent is still not consider for many. He is from a little village of the North of Spain, but his atelier is based on Barcelona. He was the first Spanish designer who became a member of the French Association of Couture without living in Paris. I loved his summer collection, pink was everywhere, that pink is named "Castro pink".

He grew up in a little village, and his family had a restaurant where people celebrated weddings and funerals. That dramatic and at the same time emotional childhood is reflected in his collections.

He used to go to the cinema on Tuesdays, the day off for his family. He loved to watch terror films, and he has recognized they still inspired him. He started to study a course for aesthetician and after catering trade, but he didn't finish. After that, he moved to Santiago de Compostela to study design. After it, he won the Smirnoff prize, and then moved to Barcelona to the School of Fashion's Arts and Techniques, where he studied until 1997. After that, he was accepted in the Royal Collage of Arts in London, despite he didn't speak English at all. Now he is designer at Desigual, and also has his own collection.

José Castro es un diseñador español cuyo talento aún no es considerado por muchos. Nació en un pequeño pueblo del norte de España, pero su estudio esta en Barcelona. Ha sido el primer español que se ha convertido en miembro de la Asociación Francesa de Cultura sin vivir en Francia. Me encanta su colección de verano, había rosa por todos lados, y ese rosa ahora se conoce como "rosa Castro".
José ha crecido en un pueblo muy pequeño, y su familia tenía un restaurante donde se celebraban desde bodas hasta funerales. Esa infancia, tan dramática y emocional a la vez se ve reflejada en sus colecciones. Solía ir al cine los martes, el día en que descansaba su familia, y le encantaba ver pelis de terror con su padre, lo que le sirve de inspiración para sus colecciones. Comenzó estudiando para esteticista, y luego en la hostelería, pero no acabó ninguno de los dos cursos. Luego empezó a estudiar diseño y confección en una pequeña academia de Santiago de Compostela, y tras ganar el premio Smirnoff se fue a la Escuela de Artes y Técnicas de Moda de Barcelona, donde estudió hasta 1997. Luego ingresó en el Royal Collage of Arts de Londres, donde fue aceptado inmediatamente pese a no saber ni gota de inglés. Ahora diseña para Desigual, y también para su propia marca.
