I thought the economic crisis would bring something good. After all, when the human being has suffered any kind of crisis, it has always emerged a new, fresh, innovative social/cultural movement, normally led by the youth. What do we, the youngsters, have now? Nothing. Well, nothing new. I assumed we are the "we have it all" generation, so we don't bother to complain, there is no need. So sad.
Maybe that is why fashion lately has been a revision of the Twenties, Thirties, Fourties, Fifties, Sixties, Seventies, Eighties, Nineties, because we, the Noughties generation, have nothing to offer. Nothing to create. Just, nothing.

Después de todo, cuando el ser humano se ha enfrentado a cualquier tipo de crisis siempre ha surgido algún interesante movimiento social o cultural fresco e innovativo, normalmente abanderado por la juventud. Puede que por eso la moda en los últimos años haya sido una revisión de los años '20, '30, '40, '50, '60, '70, '80, o incluso '90. Porque nosotros, la generación del 2000, no tenemos nada que ofrecer, nada que crear. Simplemente, nada.

So sad, but what you said is so true. I never thought about it that way. Someone once said, "the world is full of willing people, some are willing to do, others are willing to let them." Now those were very wise words, and especially true of "today."

Hi there-It is good to reflect back on previous decades of Fashion and hopefully get inspiration for the future!
I hope it's not this grim, but I fear it is.
I think that the 00s do but we just don't realise it yet. It's always the same at the beginning of a new century.
It's very sad thought, though it might be closer to truth than we'd like to think.

Yo si creo que la juventud tiene cosas que decir, pero lo hace de un modo diferente. Si algo tienen de valor es que son más directos, menos artificiales, más leales, y tal vez el mecanismo que impulsa las revoluciones en muchas ocasiones, pasan por el salón o el despacho de alguien al que rendir pleitesía, por lo que no busques "esos giros" dentro de los salones, están en la calle, en cada esquina. Tal vez el sistema haya agotado sus víctimas, haya sacrificado a todos sus dioses, y la laguna se haya secado de tanto tirar de ella. Las fuentes manan en tantos sitios y somos incapaces de ver cuanto nos rodea, el glamour tiene eso de desprecio, sus luz cegadora le impide ver con claridad. Todo lo que buscas está en la calle, solo tienes que asomarte y observar. Besos.
Quejarse de falta de ideales... o de falta de crítica buena basada en (ideales)? No sé, porque me parece que muchos jóvenes no están de acuerdo con las cosas malas o estúpidas de nuestras sociedades. Pero tal vez lo que falta es un sentimiento general de desacuerdo que se puede compartir, y una alternativa o alternativas en que se puede creer. Los comentarios aquí me hacen optimista (a pesar de todo).
